How to get a podcast onto iTunes / Apple

Here I explain how to get a podcast onto iTunes (or as it is now known apple podcasts)

Getting your podcast onto iTunes (aka Apple Podcasts) or another major platform like Spotify or Google is easy and completely free. There are a few steps involved, but it’s easy to follow.

iTunes is still the biggest player in podcasting, so you must get yourself on there no matter how big or small your podcast is.

I recommend you get onto iTunes early as possible to get listed before you start publishing full episodes. Here’s how to do it.

What you need to get onto iTunes

This is easy. You need 2 things…

  • Podcast Artwork - plenty of people on Fiverr will design you nice artwork, search for podcast artwork, and you will have tons of designer options for excellent value. If you’re doing it yourself, make it 1400 x 1400 pixels so that it passes for getting onto iTunes.

  • An episode ready to publish - this does not need to be a full episode. iTunes require a piece of audio to get you on there. I recommend recording a short episode introducing the podcast, and it’s about (1-2 minutes long).

Sign up for Podbean

If you already have an RSS feed you can skip to Submit and get your podcast onto itunes.

You will need to get an RSS feed and Podbean will do everything you need. They have a free plan where you can upload 5 hours of content. If you get into the swing of podcasting and need an upgraded plan, this will only cost $9 dollars a month (less than €100 per year) for unlimited audio uploads. This is the best value you will find.

  1. Sign up for a free account and upload your first episode

  2. Fill in the details under Settings > General and Settings > Feed:
